Volunteering
Navajeevan - Blind Relief Center - India
My grandmother has a special place in her heart for the children at the Navajeevan blind relief center in Tirupati, India. She made it a lifelong habit to share fresh produce and fruits she grew in her backyard with the kids at Navajeevan. Her commitment to voluntary service inspired me to do my part on my visits to India since my childhood. She encouraged me to get involved by organizing fundraisers and events, instilling the belief that giving back is not just an act, but a way of life. Through my fundraising efforts, I support initiatives such as Vidyadhanam (free education), Netradhanam (free eye surgeries), and Annadhanam (free meals) for blind students, helping carry forward the values my grandmother has passed on to me.
Navajeevan visit this summer

This summer, during my visit to Tirupati, India, I had the opportunity to personally deliver the funds I raised to Navajeevan. What resonated with me most was the advice of the founder, K Sridhar Acharya, who encouraged me to spend time with the students in their activities and experience a slice of their life. Here’s a photo with some of my friends at Navajeevan - Blind relief center. It was during these moments that I came to appreciate the value of knowing multiple languages—I was able to communicate with them effortlessly in my mother tongue, Telugu, which made the experience even more meaningful.
