Buddies for Math  Mountain View, CA

I am the Executive Director of Buddies4Math (B4M), a student-led nonprofit that pairs middle and high school tutors with elementary students for weekly in-person math sessions. We are the only student-run program drawing volunteers from over 20 Bay Area schools.

I began as a tutor in 8th grade and have since grown into leadership role, and currently manage all four program sites and helping design curriculum based on student and teacher feedback. Watching students gain confidence and enjoy learning motivates me to keep volunteering. The students at B4M have taught me how to balance a drive to help the students succeed with a confident, yet empathetic attitude. Having worked with the students for so long, I understand how to be an effective communicator and organizer, qualities that I continue to apply in other areas of my life and  hope to carry forward in college and beyond.
